Imagine having the ability to able to hit a button on a remote and fish your favorite wreck in deep water without worrying about an anchor. Perhaps you're thinking that your center console is simply too large for a "little" trolling motor?
The Force Kraken motor (saltwater model) is designed primarily for larger offshore boats requiring longer shafts, robust thrust and easy installation on saltwater fishing vessels. After witnessing the Kraken on the water, we can assure you that there's nothing "little" about this motor.... So, now it's your turn to get in on the action!
The Kraken features a dual voltage (24v/36v) brushless motor generating up to 100 lbs. of thrust. Force Kraken - White Full Details
Recommended for:
Medium to large saltwater or freshwater Center Console, Deep-V, Pontoon, Fish N' Ski, Bay Boats and general fishing boats.
- When wired for 24v, you'll have 80 lbs of max thrust on tap which provides enough power for boats weighing up to 4,500 lbs.
- When wired for 36v, you'll have 100 lbs of max thrust which provides enough power for boats weighing up to 10,000 lbs.
Please Note: fishing conditions, hull design/shape and intended use all have a significant impact on calculating the appropriate amount of thrust for your boat. For more help determining the right thrust for your boat please refer to our Trolling Motor Thrust Guide.
How It's Unique
Garmin's Force Kraken lineup of trolling motors are designed for numerous fishing styles and boats. The Kraken comes in two flavors, "White" and "Black". Although both models are rated for saltwater and freshwater applications, the White model is primarily designed for saltwater fishing and the Black model is designed for freshwater.
The White Force Kraken has several unique features which clearly make it more at home offshore than on the lake. First of all, the White Force Kraken has corrosion resistant powder coating and insulated electronics which protect it from harsh saltwater environments. The White Kraken is also available with a longer 90" shaft designed for offshore boats with higher freeboards. Lastly, the White model is not available with an integrated sonar transducer while the Black model does come equipped with integrated sonar.
If you're looking for a high-end, brushless motor designed for the ocean, go no further, the White Force Kraken is the model for you. If you're a freshwater angler looking for a Garmin motor with features traditionally found of freshwater trolling motors, you may want to hop on over to the Force Kraken (Black) product page.

Mounting Details:
This Force Kraken is bolted directly to the bow of the boat using the included mounting hardware, and requires drilling 4-6 bolts into the hull for installation. Ideally, it's best to have access to the underside of the mounting platform in order to secure and fasten the bolting hardware.
Due to the weight and torque of the Force Kraken, deck reinforcement may be required. If reinforcement is necessary, we recommend hiring a qualified fabricator/installer to ensure the appropriate motor mounting location and installation.
If you wish to take the motor on and off your boat, you can also opt for a Force Kraken quick release plate which is a very popular choice.
Motor Mount Dimensions:
Bolt pattern Length 8 1/4 - Width 5 1/4"
Motor Voltage and Batteries:
The Saltwater Force Kraken is a dual voltage (24v/36v) motor. Depending on the thrust requirements of your boat and fishing conditions you can wire this motor for 24v or 36v. When wired to 2 x 12v deep cycle batteries (24v) or a 24v Lithium (LiFePO4) Battery, the Force Kraken will provide up to 80 lbs max thrust.
When wired to 3 x 12v deep cycle batteries or a 36v Lithium (LiFePO4) Battery, the Force Kraken will provide up to 100 lbs max thrust. For more information on the proper batteries to purchase for your trolling motor, see our Trolling Motor Battery Selection Guide.
Motor Wiring Details:
The Force Kraken can be wired directly to the batteries or it can be used in conjunction with a plug and receptacle for a cleaner, more professional looking installation. If using a quick release bracket, a plug and receptacle like the Minn Kota MKR-28 will allow you to plug and unplug the motor for easy removal and re-mounting.
To protect your motor from control board damage installing a 60amp circuit breaker is highly recommended.
Shielded, marine grade wiring should be used to connect the motor to the power source (aka the batteries!).
If you are using lead acid or AGM batteries, they must be wired "in series" to create the proper voltage for this motor. For instructions on how to properly wire 12v batteries in series, take a look at our 24v-36v trolling motor wiring diagram.
Power Lead Length:
Two 5' power leads (red and black) ending in terminal rings (aka lugs). The Force Kraken motors do not come from the factory with trolling motor power plugs. A new power plug can be crimped or heat shrunk onto the power leads; just make sure to have a matching receptacle installed in the hull. If you are replacing an existing motor that has a plug already installed, you can transfer it to the new motor's power leads.
NOTE: Although most power plugs and receptacles are universally compatible regardless of voltage, make sure that they are rated at 60amps or more. Minn Kota and Marinco offer high-quality, reliable plug and receptacle sets.
Pedal Cord Length:
Although not included with this motor, a cordless foot pedal is available for purchase separately.
What Is Included:
- Saltwater Garmin Force Kraken (White) trolling motor with Auto-Pilot GPS
- Wireless remote control with color screen and user programmable buttons

What Else Is Required:
Batteries, Battery Charger, Circuit Breaker and marine-grade wiring. If you also wish to take the motor on and off your boat: A power plug/receptacle and quick release bracket will make your life simpler!
Amperage Draw:
58 amps at maximum speed
Motor Run Time:
Important Note: Calculating run time is very difficult due to the many factors involved. As you likely won't be running your trolling motor 100% of the time, the actual amount of on-the-water time will be longer than continuous motor run times listed below. Trolling motor run time can vary depending on the boat, operating conditions (winds, waves, etc) and the type of battery used. Listed below are run-time estimates assuming a 100 amp hour rated AGM batteries. To learn more, please see our article on calculating motor run time.
- 20+ Hours: At slow, trolling speeds that draw 5 amps or less
- 4.8 Hours: Approx. run time with throttle 50% open
- 2.4 Hours: Approx. run time with the motor at full throttle
Stow and Deploy Method:
The Force Kraken has a "pivot style" manual stow and deploy mechanism which is similar to a pendulum. A foot lever on the base of the motor unlocks the mechanism in order to stow or deploy.
Motor Steering Method:
This motor is steered primarily via the included Auto-Pilot GPS remote control.
You can connect the motor to a compatible Garmin fish finder and operate it directly from the screen or use Garmin's Active Captain app which creates a wireless network allowing you to control your motor from your smartphone, a Garmin fishfinder and even a Garmin smartwatch!
Shaft Adjustment:
The Force Kraken has a twist collar which can be loosened allowing you to raise and lower the prop height for optimal depth depending on your fishing conditions
Motor Speed:
All Force Kraken motors are variable speed
