Quick Details
The Minn Kota Ulterra needs no introduction. With its legendary auto stow, deploy and power trim, thousands of fishermen have been able to enjoy more fishing, with less effort, at the push of a button. Perhaps you fish alone or you’d rather not climb up on your bow just to stow and deploy your trolling motor. Whatever the case may be, the latest Ulterra 112 continues to provide effortless performance for anglers who just want to concentrate on one thing, catching more fish.
Make no mistake, this motor is no one trick pony. In addition to its auto stow/deploy and power trim, the Ulterra 112 features Minn Kota's latest "Advanced GPS" technology (previously i-Pilot/i-Pilot Link) coupled with a redesigned wireless remote offering more auto-navigation features such as "Drift Mode" and "Dodge”. Tap into Minn Kota's One Boat Network to control your motor, enable GPS auto-navigation, mapping features and imaging from select Humminbird fish finders or the updated smartphone app.
The Ulterra 112 also comes standard with Humminbirds' latest Dual Spectrum CHIRP sonar (DSC) which provides a wider range of frequencies producing more detailed returns of fish than the previous US2 sonar. Optional integrated MEGA Down imaging provides incredibly detailed down scan on compatible Humminbird fish finders.
Standard features for the Minn Kota Ulterra 112 (36v) include: Auto-stow/deploy with power trim, multifunction foot pedal, wireless remote, Advanced GPS technology, Digital Maximizer, Heading Sensor, Composite Shaft, Weedless Wedge 2 Prop, Bluetooth, Smartphone App and Two Year Warranty. Also included: Humminbird Helix transducer adapter cable and ethernet adapter cable for Minn Kota's One Boat Network integration with select Humminbird fish finders. 2024 Ulterra 112 Full Details
Recommended for:
Medium to large freshwater center console, Carolina skiffs, Deep-V, Pontoon, Fish N' Ski and general fishing boats. The 36v - 112 lbs thrust motor is recommended for boats with a fully laden weight up to 12,000lbs and length up to 25'. However, fishing conditions, hull design/shape and intended use all have a significant impact on calculating the appropriate amount of thrust for your boat. For more help determining the right thrust for your boat please refer to our Trolling Motor Thrust Guide.
How It's Unique
In many respects, the Freshwater Ulterra 112 has the same features, specs and intended use as Minn Kota's popular Freshwater Terrova line of trolling motors. However, there is one HUGE difference; the Ulterra also includes auto-stow and deploy along with power trim. Raise, lower and adjust the prop height of the Ulterra all with the push of a button on your wireless remote, multi-function foot pedal, Humminbird fish finder and even your phone.
Whatever the choice, you can't go wrong with The Ulterra or Terrova; both are top of the line trolling motors with the latest technology and incredible performance. The only choice you really need to make is whether you want to stow and deploy the motor by yourself or make the Ulterra do the work.

Mounting Details:
This motor is bolted directly to the bow of the boat using the included mounting hardware, and requires drilling 4-6 bolts into the hull for installation. Ideally, it's best to have access to the underside of the mounting platform in order to secure and fasten the bolting hardware. However, if accessing the underside is impossible you can use no access bolts to secure the motor from the top. For more information on mounting this motor please see our installation guides below.
If you wish to take the motor on and off your boat, you can also opt for a quick release bracket which is a very popular choice. The Minn Kota MKA-64 Quick Release Bracket is a great option for this Ulterra.
Motor Mount Dimensions:
18 5/16" length x 10/14" width
Motor Voltage and Batteries:
The Ulterra 112 is a 36 volt motor and requires three (3), 12-volt marine batteries or (1) 36v LiFePO4 lithium battery (min 50AH rating). For more information on the proper batteries to purchase for your trolling motor, see our Trolling Motor Battery Selection Guide.
If you are using lead acid or AGM batteries, the two batteries must be wired "in series" to provide the proper voltage output. For instructions on how to properly wire multiple 12v batteries in series, take a look at our 24v-36v trolling motor wiring diagram.
Motor Wiring Details:
The Freshwater Ulterra 112 can be wired directly to the batteries or it can be used in conjunction with a plug and receptacle for a cleaner, more professional installation. If using a quick release bracket, a plug and receptacle like the Minn Kota MKR-28 will allow you to plug and unplug the motor for easy removal and re-mounting.
To protect your motor from control board damage installing a 60amp circuit breaker is highly recommended.
Shielded, marine grade wiring should be used to connect the motor to the power source (aka batteries!). To determine the appropriate gauge wiring download this circuit breaker and wiring table.
If using 3 - 12v, lead acid or AGM batteries, they must be wired "in series" to create the proper voltage for this 36v motor. For instructions on how to properly wire 12v batteries in series, take a look at our 24v-36v trolling motor wiring diagram.
Power Lead Length:
Two 5' power leads (red and black) ending in terminal rings (aka lugs). Minn Kota motors do not come from the factory with trolling motor power plugs. A new power plug can be crimped or heat shrunk onto the power leads; make sure to have a matching receptacle installed in the hull. If you are replacing an existing motor that has a plug already installed, you can transfer it to the new motor's power leads.
NOTE: Although most power plugs and receptacles are universally compatible regardless of voltage, make sure that they are rated at 60amps or more. Minn Kota and Marinco offer high-quality, reliable plug and receptacle sets.
Pedal Cord Length:
18' Cord

Trolling motor run time can vary depending on the boat, operating conditions (winds, waves, etc) and the type of battery used. Listed below are run-time estimates assuming a 100 amp hour rated batteries. To learn more, please see our article on calculating motor run time.
- 20+ Hours: At slow, trolling speeds that draw 5 amps or less
- 4.8 Hours: Approx. run time with throttle 50% open
- 2.4 Hours: Approx. run time with the motor at full throttle
Stow and Deploy Method:
The Ulterra is an auto-stow and deploy motor. With just the push of a button on the wireless remote, the foot pedal (or even your phone!) you can remotely raise and lower the motor. The power trim feature also allows you to adjust the prop height to optimal depth. No need to lift a finger on the motor; just press a button on the remote!
Motor Steering Method:
The motor is steered via the included Advanced GPS remote control and/or multi-function foot pedal. The Ulterra 112 can also connect (aka network) to compatible Humminbird fishfinders via an ethernet connection. This networking feature is part of Minn Kota's "One Boat Network" and allows you to control your motor directly from the Humminbird and tap in to additional auto-navigation and mapping features.
