2024 Terrova 112 Full Details
Recommended for:
Medium to large freshwater center console, Carolina skiffs, Deep-V, Pontoon and general fishing boats. The 36v - 112 lbs thrust motor is recommended for boats with a fully laden weight up to 12,000lbs and length up to 25'. However, fishing conditions, hull design/shape and intended use all have a significant impact on calculating the appropriate amount of thrust for your boat. For more help determining the right thrust for your boat please refer to our Trolling Motor Thrust Guide.
How It's Unique
The Terrova is a step-up from Minn Kota's entry-level PowerDrive line of motors. Compared to the PowerDrive, (55 lbs and 70 lbs thrust) the Terrova is available in 55 lbs, 80 lbs and 112 lbs thrust with shaft lengths up to 72". It's also easier to stow and deploy with a more rugged construction.
All Terrovas are equipped with Advanced GPS and come standard with full size Advanced GPS Remote and a Heading Sensor (enables the popular Jog Feature). Most freshwater Terrova models also include a multi-function foot pedal and integrated sonar. Freshwater PowerDrives are available with two control options; a foot pedal only or Advanced GPS with the compact Micro Remote as an option.
While both models offer GPS technology, only the Freshwater Terrova lineup enables simultaneous operation with both wireless remote and multi-function foot pedal.
We recommend the PowerDrive trolling motors for fishermen who are looking for a no frills, value-priced motor with optional Advanced GPS (including Spot Lock) or foot pedal operation. If you need a motor with higher thrust level, longer available shaft lengths, standard Advanced GPS, full size remote and one-hand stow/deploy the Terrova is the motor for you.

Mounting Details:
This motor is bolted directly to the bow of the boat using the included mounting hardware, and requires drilling 4-6 bolts into the hull for installation. Ideally, it's best to have access to the underside of the mounting platform in order to secure and fasten the bolting hardware. However, if accessing the underside is impossible you can use no access bolts to secure the motor from the top. For more information see our compatibility guides or download motor installation instructions and heading sensor instructions.
If you wish to take the motor on and off your boat, you can also opt for a quick release bracket which is a very popular choice. Due to the weight and higher thrust levels of the Terrova 112, a quick release bracket with more reinforcement is required. The appropriate quick release bracket for all Terrova 112 shaft lengths is the MKA-64 Quick Release Bracket. A specialized mounting solution such as the Shuttle Slide SS-7.5 Rotating mount can also provide more installation options for boats with limited deck space.
Mount Dimensions:
14 17/16" length x 8 3/8" width
Motor Voltage and Batteries:
The Terrova 112 is a 36 volt motor and requires three (3), 12-volt marine batteries or (1) 36v LiFePO4 lithium battery (min 50AH rating). For more information on the proper batteries to purchase for your trolling motor, see our Trolling Motor Battery Selection Guide.
Motor Wiring Details:
The Terrova 112 can be wired directly to the batteries or it can be used in conjunction with a plug and receptacle for a cleaner, more professional installation. If using a quick release bracket, a plug and receptacle like the Minn Kota MKR-28 will allow you to plug and unplug the motor for easy removal and re-mounting.
To protect your motor from control board damage etc., installing a 60amp circuit breaker is highly recommended.
Shielded, marine grade wiring should be used to connect the motor to the power source (aka batteries!). To determine the appropriate gauge wiring download this circuit breaker and wiring table.
If using 3 - 12v, lead acid or AGM batteries, they must be wired "in series" to create the proper voltage for this 36v motor. For instructions on how to properly wire 12v batteries in series, take a look at our 24v-36v trolling motor wiring diagram.
Power Lead Length:
Two 5' power leads (red and black) ending in terminal rings (aka lugs). Minn Kota motors do not come from the factory with trolling motor power plugs. A new power plug can be crimped or heat shrunk onto the power leads; make sure to have a matching receptacle installed in the hull. If you are replacing an existing motor that has a plug already installed, you can transfer it to the new motor's power leads.
NOTE: Although most power plugs and receptacles are universally compatible regardless of voltage, make sure that they are rated at 60amps or more. Minn Kota and Marinco offer high-quality, reliable plug and receptacle sets.
Pedal Cord Length:
18' Cord

Motor Run Time:
Important Note: Calculating run time is very difficult to due to the many factors involved. As you likely won't be running your trolling motor 100% of the time, the actual amount of on-the-water time will be longer than continuous run times listed below. Trolling motor run time can vary depending on the boat, operating conditions (winds, waves, etc) and the type of battery used. Listed below are run-time estimates assuming a 100 amp hour rated batteries. To learn more, please see our article on calculating motor run time.
- 20+ Hours: At slow, trolling speeds that draw 5 amps or less
- 4.8 Hours: Approx. run time with throttle 50% open
- 2.4 Hours: Approx. run time with the motor at full throttle
Stow and Deploy Method:
The Terrova's manual stow and deploy system is activated by a foot lever and employs weight distribution which works like a pendulum and helps carry the weight of the motor. Simply depress the lever, grab the top of the control head, pull up and then swivel the shaft down into the stowed and locked position. The "Auto-Park" feature automatically lines up the lower unit with the mounting ramp for easy stowing.
Motor Steering Method:
The motor is steered via the included Advanced GPS remote control or a multi-function foot pedal. The Terrova 112 can also connect (aka network) to compatible Humminbird fishfinders via an ethernet connection. This networking feature is part of Minn Kota's "One Boat Network" and allows you to control your motor directly from the Humminbird and tap in to additional auto-navigation and mapping features.
Downloading Minn Kota's One Boat Network smartphone app and pairing it to your motor enables you to use your phone as a full function wireless remote. You can also use the app to pair up with compatible Humminbird fish finders to access numerous mapping and auto-navigation features.
