2024 Riptide Terrova 112 Full Details
Recommended for:
Medium to large saltwater Center Console, Carolina skiffs, Deep-V, pontoons and general fishing boats. The 36v motor generates 112 lbs max thrust and can easily handle boats up to 25' long and 10,000lbs. Bear in mind that fishing conditions, hull design/shape and intended use all have a significant impact on calculating the appropriate amount of thrust. For more help determining the right thrust for your boat please refer to our thrust guide.
How It's Unique
The Riptide Terrova is a step-up from Minn Kota's entry-level Riptide PowerDrive line of motors. Compared to Riptide PowerDrive, the Riptide Terrovas are available with higher voltage with more thrust and longer shaft lengths up to 87". The Riptide Terrova is also easier to stow and deploy with a more rugged construction and comes standard with a Heading Sensor (enables the popular Jog Feature) as well as a full size Advanced GPS remote.
While both models offer Advanced GPS technology, One Boat Network integration and compatibility with many of the same accessories only the Riptide Terrova can be operated with a remote and a foot pedal (optional). For a comparison between the Riptide Terrova and Riptide PowerDrive motors please review our Comparison Guide.
We recommend the Riptide PowerDrive trolling motor for fishermen with small to medium size boats who are looking for a no frills, value-priced motor that includes wireless control and Advanced GPS (including Spot Lock). The Riptide PowerDrive motors are available in 12v (55 lbs thrust) or 24v (70 lbs thrust) with a choice between Micro remote or full size Advanced GPS Remote. If you need a motor with higher thrust levels, more rugged construction, longer available shaft lengths, foot pedal compatibility and one-hand stow/deploy the Riptide Terrova is the motor for you.

Mounting Details:
This motor is bolted directly to the bow of the boat using the included mounting hardware and requires drilling 4-6 bolts into the hull for installation. Ideally, it's best to have access to the underside of the mounting platform in order to secure and fasten the bolting hardware. However, if accessing the underside is not possible you can use "No-access bolts" to mount the motor. The longer shafted models such as the 87" may require reinforcement to compensate for its heavier weight. For more information download installation and user manuals in the "Product Installation" section of this page.
If you wish to take the motor on and off your boat, you can also opt for a quick release bracket which also simplify installation a bit easier. Due to the weight and higher thrust levels of the Riptide Terrova 112, a stronger, more reinforced quick release bracket is required. The appropriate quick release bracket for all Riptide Terrova 112 shaft lengths is the RTA-62 Quick Release Bracket. For longer shafted models such as the 87", a specialized mounting solution such as the Shuttle Slide SS-7.5 Rotating mount can provide more installation options for boats with limited deck space.

Motor Run Time:
Important Note: Calculating run time is very difficult to calculate due to the many factors involved. As you likely won't be running your trolling motor 100% of the time, the actual amount of on-the-water time will be longer than continuous run times listed below. Trolling motor run time can vary depending on the boat, operating conditions (winds, waves, etc) and the type of battery used. Listed below are run-time estimates assuming a 100 amp hour rated batteries. To learn more, please see our article on calculating motor run time.
- 20+ Hours: At slow, trolling speeds that draw 5 amps or less
- 4.8 Hours: Approx. run time with throttle 50% open
- 2.4 Hours: Approx. run time with the motor at full throttle
Stow and Deploy Method:
The Riptide Terrova's manual stow and deploy system is activated by a foot lever and employs weight distribution which works like a pendulum and helps carry the weight of the motor. Simply depress the lever, grab the top of the control head, pull up and then swivel the shaft down into the stowed and locked position. The "Auto-Park" feature automatically lines up the lower unit with the mounting ramp for easy stowing.
Motor Steering Method:
The motor is steered via the included Advanced GPS remote control or a foot pedal (purchased separately). The Riptide Terrova 112 can also connect (aka network) to compatible Humminbird fishfinders via an ethernet connection. This networking feature is part of Minn Kota's "One Boat Network" and allows you to control your motor directly from the Humminbird.
