Quick Details
The Garmin Force™ Trolling Motor available with a 50" or 57" shaft is ups the ante with a seemingly endless feature set, cutting edge technology and a rugged design that looks almost sinister...in a good way.
The Force™ is Garmin's offering for anglers who want that "old-school" cable steer feel and responsiveness coupled the latest GPS, sonar and networking technologies.
Garmin has not only been able incorporate traditional, cable steer feel into the Force; they've managed to do it without any cables at all...yup it's wireless.
But the Force™ is no one-trick pony by any stretch of the imagination.
Housed in the vault-like chassis, Garmin has integrated their latest sonar technology into their new trolling motor. These imaging technologies include integrated traditional CHIRP sonar along with High Definition imaging such as their ClearVU and SideVU scanning sonar. It even has a cable management system for seamless installation of Live Scope transducer.
Of course, a motor of this caliber and price (starting at $3,549.99) has many of the GPS features that Minn Kota's i-Pilot system turned into "must-haves" - including anchor lock, auto-pilot, jog feature and more. All of these features can be controlled via the wireless foot pedal wireless remote and even gesture control.
The Force model is available in 50"-57" shaft, a configurable 24v/36v motor with 80lbs and 100lbs of thrust respectively, Wireless foot pedal, full color floatable remote, high efficiency brushless motor, integrated high definition sonar, wireless chartplotter connectivity, gas-piston lift assist, and coiled spring shaft guard.
Force Trolling Motor Full Details
Recommended for:
Medium to large freshwater or saltwater boats. In particular bass boats, v-hull, Carolina skiffs and general fishing boats up to 23'. The 24/36 volt motor with 80lb or 100lb thrust is recommended for boats weighing up to 7,000lbs. For more help picking the right thrust level - or to learn how much your boat weighs - please refer to our thrust guide.
How It's Unique
Building on the success of Minn Kota's Ultrex, the Garmin Force™ is designed for serious anglers who prefer a traditional cable steer feel along with GPS capabilities such as anchor lock, autopilot etc.. As opposed to the Ultrex, The Force only has one model option - fully loaded - with every feature. This is why the price points starts at $3,549.99 for the 50" and $3,649.99 for the 57" shaft.
It has several cutting edge technologies including a wireless foot pedal, dual voltage 24v/36v capability, wireless chart plotter connectivity, full color remote with gesture controls, brushless motor and an integrated Garmin transducer with CHIRP, high definition ClearVu and SideVu frequencies. It's incredibly rugged chassis is also notable...weighing in at roughly 80lbs.

Wiring Details:
The Force can be wired directly to the batteries, and can also be used in conjunction with a plug and receptacle for a cleaner, more professional installation that's easy to remove. To protect your motor from damage, a 60 amp circuit breaker is also recommended.

Important Note: As you likely won't be running your trolling motor perpetually, the actual amount of on-the-water time a motor should allow will be substantially longer than times listed. Actual motor run time can vary depending on conditions (winds, waves, etc) and the type of battery used. Listed below are run-time estimates assuming a 100 amp hour rated battery. To learn more, please see our article on calculating motor run time.
- 20+ Hours: At slow, trolling speeds that draw 5 amps or less
- 3.6 Hours: Approx. run time with throttle 50% open
- 1.8 Hours: Approx. run time with the motor at full throttle
Stow and Deploy Method:
The Garmin Force features nitrogen charged gas spring lift mechanism that makes it incredibly easy to stow and deploy. This design is very similar to the lift-assist system on motors such as the Ultrex and Fortrex motors from Minn Kota.
